I would like to share an amazing experience with all of you. I attended the Bear Camp in Columbus, Ohio with Columbus Ursine Brotherhood (CUB) last month. I met so many cool bears. Guys from all over the world attended this event. These guys truly showed the meaning of Bear Pride. I was more impressed with these fine fellows when I found out they are donating $9000 to Project Open-Hand Columbus.
To give you a little bit of an idea bout Bear Camp, the run was held at the Red Roof Hotel dowtown Columbus, ohio, from July 19 to July 22. They had 270 participants, which was about 40 more than 2006. There was a plethora of food for everyone to enjoy. Run participants were entertained by bear strippers, lube wrestlers, and also enjoyed a pool party at the local club. I feel extremely honored to have been a part of this event; particularly, knowing these guys donated $9000 to Project Open-Hand Columbus. Founded in 1994 and a non-profit organization, Project Open-Hand Columbus is dedicated to meeting the nutritional needs of men, women and children living with HIV and AIDS in central Ohio through an extensive nutrition intervention program that addresses the causes of malnutrition, hunger and wasting syndrome. I hope all of you will join me next summer at Bear Camp 2008 as plans are underway for their 14th annual run being held July 31st to August 3rd 2008. Bear Camp 2008 has reserved the entire Red Roof Hotel for the run. Plans are being made for some of the previous favorite events along with some new ideas. .
